How Net Metering Works on a PSE&G Account

Your meter runs both directions. When the array produces more than the house is drawing, the surplus goes out to the grid and comes back as a credit; when it produces less, you pull from PSE&G as usual.

Those credits roll forward month to month, which is what covers the short winter days using summer surplus. You stay a PSE&G customer either way, so delivery charges remain on the bill no matter how much you generate.

Residential and Commercial Solar Across Pennsauken

Both run the same path through township permitting and PSE&G interconnection, but they are sized against different things. A home is sized against a year of usage, where summer surplus carries the short winter days. A business is sized against daytime load and the demand charges that ride along with it, which is why commercial projects usually start at the electrical service rather than the roof.
